Jamaica Gleaner: Prime Minister Andrew Holness says draft legislation is being finalised that will strengthen efforts to resolve land disputes in Jamaica.

Holness made the announcement this afternoon during the handing over of more than 200 titles to Jamaicans at a ceremony at his office.

He did not say when the draft bill to amend the Registration of Titles Cadastral Mapping and Tenure Clarification (Special Provisions) Act will be completed or brought to the Parliament.

But Holness said the bill will strengthen the work of adjudication committees that settle land ownership disputes.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the Land Administration and Management Programme (LAMP) will continue its mandate to conduct land ownership mapping, tenure clarification and regularisations.

The titles issued today were administered through work involving LAMP and the Development Bank of Jamaica.
